Out of the amounts in this item, $18,923,959 from the general fund in the second year is provided to reimburse the Unemployment Compensation Fund for any forgiven overpayments of state unemployment insurance benefits pursuant to the provisions of House Bill 2040, 2021 General Assembly. Of the amounts included in this paragraph, $250,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to the Commission for administrative costs. The funding provided in this paragraph is contingent on the passage of House Bill 2040, 2021 General Assembly."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $18.9 million in the second year from the general fund to support costs for the Virginia Employment Commission to forgive the overpayment of benefits under certain conditions. House Bill 2040 requires any forgiveness of overpayments to be reimbursed from the general fund to the state's UI trust fund. This amendment provides $18.7 million for the reimbursement provisions of the bill. It also includes $250,000 from the general fund for administrative cost incurred by the Virginia Employment Commission.)
