Page 76, following line 25, insert:

"A. Out of the amounts in this Item, $125,000 the first year and $125,000 the second year from the general fund shall be deposited to the Beehive Grant Fund for the payment of grants in accordance with § 3.2-4415 et seq., Code of Virginia. The department may disburse from the Fund its reasonable costs and expenses incurred in the administration and management of the Fund up to $25,000 in each year. "

Explanation

(This amendment provides $125,000 GF in each year to the Beehive Grant Program. The General Assembly established the program in 2012 to increase honey bee populations in Virginia. Since that time, VDACS has issued 730 grants across the Commonwealth. Budget reductions in FY 2015 and 2017 resulted in transfers out of the fund. The balance available for grants is now $17,500. VDACS has 660 pending applications that are eligible for reimbursement despite the lack of funding. This amendment restores the initial annual appropriation of $125,000.)
