Included in this item are general fund amounts of $71,503 the first year and one position, and $37,400 the second year, and one position, and nongeneral fund amounts of $420,993 the first year and one position, and $112,200 the second year, and one position, to cover the Compensation Board portion of costs associated with strengthening Medicaid enrollment and application processes for Medicaid-eligible adult and juvenile inmates, pursuant to HB 2183 (Chapter 198 of the 2017 Acts of Assembly) study recommendations.  The measures are intended to: 1) save state money on managed care contracts by identifying inmates upon incarceration; 2) automate exchange data between Department of Medical Assistance Services, the Compensation Board, the Department of Corrections, and the Department of Juvenile Justice; 3) centralize inmate medical applications; and 4) allow for seamless enrollment upon entry.".



Explanation

(This amendment would fund the Compensation Board portion of costs associated with strengthening Medicaid enrollment and application process for Medicaid-eligible adult and juvenile inmates pursuant to HB 2183 (Chapter 198 of the 2017 Acts of Assembly) study recommendations.)
