Explanation

(This amendment provides funding to increase the salary of all sworn deputy Sheriffs by $4,371, raising the entry-level salary of sworn deputy from $31,629 to $36,000, an increase of 13.82 percent. Funding is also included to adjust the salary increase received after 12 months from 4.56 percent to 5 percent for newly hired deputies to remain competitive with other public safety agencies offering 10 percent after one year, and to maintain the increase received for participation in the master deputy program at 9.3 percent to prevent erosion of the program. Second year cost includes prorated 2 percent across-the-board increase effective December 1, 2019 as recommended in the Governor's Budget Bill Amounts are shown annualized and could be prorated based on the effective date of the increase.)
