"Out of this appropriation $500,000 in the first year and $500,000 in the second year from the general fund shall be provided to establish a grant program to support the costs of local fire departments who apply for the grant to purchase second sets of gear for firefighters. The grants shall be made to localities who will provide a 50/50 match, under guidelines to be developed by the Department of Fire Programs."
Explanation
(This amendment would provide $500,000 GF in each year for the Department to establish a matching grant program, from which it could make grants to support a 50 percent match to Fire Departments for the cost of purchasing a second set of gear for firefighters, in an effort to prevent job-related cancer.)
