From the amounts included in paragraph D.1., $30,000 the first year and $30,000 the second year from the general fund shall be used for the care of additional Revolutionary War graves, up to a maximum of 6,000.  Any funds included in this paragraph that are not disbursed to the Sons of the American Revolution for the care of Revolutionary War Graves shall be distributed at the discretion of the Director for grants to maintain, renovate, repair or reconstruct cemeteries or graves or to erect and care for markers, memorials, and monuments."



Explanation

(This amendment, in conjunction with SB 177, increases the number of graves recognized from 150 up to a maximum of 6,000. The cost per grave is $5. The Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution have identified 4,200 such graves. Any funds not dispersed to VASSR would be retained by the Department of Historic Resources and distributed at the discretion of the Director for additional grants.)
