"10. Included in the amounts appropriated for this item are $195,000 the first year and $195,000 the second year from the general fund for competitive grants to nonprofit organizations providing critical incident support services, specifically post-critical incident seminars and train peer support critical incident stress management training for law enforcement officers in state local agencies of the Commonwealth to promote officer safety and wellness. The Department shall conduct an evaluation of the effectiveness of such programs and provide a report of its findings to the Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security; the Director, Department of Planning and Budget; and the Chairmen of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees by July 1, 2020."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $195,000 each year from the general fund for the Department of Criminal Justice Services to provide grants to nonprofit organizations providing critical incident support services to state and local law enforcement officers. The amendment also required the Department to report on the effectiveness of such programs by July 1, 2020.)
