"L.  The Department of Social Services shall increase the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) cash benefits by 10 percent on July 1, 2018."

Explanation

(This amendment increases the cash benefit for the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program by 10 percent on July 1, 2018. The current monthly TANF benefit averages $347 per month per case. Since 1995 when TANF was created, there have been three direct increases in the benefit, the most recent was a 2.5 percent increase on July 1, 2016. However, TANF benefits also increased in certain localities when those localities were reclassifed from Level 1 to Level 2 on July 1, 2017. The funding is from the federal TANF block grant.)
