"2. The Department of Education shall reduce the total number and type of required Standards of Learning assessments to the minimum requirements established by the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, P.L. 89-10, as amended, and the Board of Education shall take the appropriate action to concur with the federal regulation, pursuant to and contingent on the passage of House Bill 980."

(This amendment saves $1.0 million each year from the general fund based on the estimated fiscal impact of House Bill 980 which requires the Department of Education to reduce the total number of SOL tests to the minimum number required from federal regulation.)
