Explanation
(This amendment authorizes the Department of General Services to use funds from the Blanket Property Acquisition Project in Chapter 1, 2008 Acts of the Assembly, Special Session I, to supplement construction of the 1,000 vehicle parking deck. The new parking structure will provide the needed parking capacity for state employees housed in the Main Street Centre and other state-owned and occupied buildings in the vicinity. This additional state owned parking is the most cost effective strategy to address the expected state employee parking needs over the long-term and is an essential component of the Department of General Services' (DGS) goal of providing cost effective parking in the Richmond Central Business District close to state owned and occupied buildings.)
