"Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia              $0    $100,000".

Explanation
(This amendment provides $100,000 the second year from the general fund to the Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia. The Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia operates programs to (i) educate and provide individuals with epilepsy with information on how to handle and manage the disorder, (ii) educate the public about the disorder and what should and should not be done if an individual has a seizure, (iii) provide one time emergency medication assistance, (iv) promote medication compliance, (v) train employers in worker accommodations, (vi) provide education for school children, and (vii) prevent epilepsy from traumatic brain injury. Because the medical costs of epilepsy are extremely high, it is cost effective to assist individuals with the disorder in learning how to avoid costly hospitalization with proper management of the disorder. It is estimated that added funding of $100,000 per year over a three-year period would achieve savings of $15.4 million in economic costs per year.)
