Explanation
(This amendment provides $80,460 the first year and $5,012,180 the second year to address the waiting list for vocational rehabilitation services. The Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) vocational rehabilitation program has been under an order of selection since July 2004. The federal Rehabilitation Act mandates an order of selection or "waiting list" when there are insufficient funds to serve all eligible individuals seeking services. Individuals are placed in one of four categories ranging from the least disabled to the most significantly disabled (MSD) with priority given to serving those most significantly disabled first. Due to insufficient funds, DRS was forced to close the last remaining service category (MSD) on November 15, 2008 and will not be accepting any new individuals for service until next fiscal year. This amendment provides funding to re-open the MSD service category this fiscal year and keep it open in fiscal year 2010.)
