Explanation
(This amendment provides additional funding for the Chesterfield County Community Corrections "Dual Treatment Track" program. The Dual Treatment Track program is a pre-trial diversion program for non-violent defendants that suffer from both mental illness and substance abuse addiction. Using an "evidence-based" approach, the program provides the diverted individuals with clinical evaluation, intensive drug and alcohol testing, and frequent counseling and medical intervention. Essentially, the program is a "one-stop shop" where participants receive mental health, case management, substance abuse, and criminal justice supervision under one roof from a collaborative, multi-agency staff. The program now serves between 30 and 35 daily participants.)
