"L.  Out of the amounts appropriated for Uniform Patrol Services, $6,500,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to compensate sworn employees subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act for overtime hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week."

Explanation
(This amendment provides $6.5 million in the second year from the general fund to compensate those state troopers subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act for their overtime. Currently, state troopers receive either compensatory leave or overtime leave for any hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week. In 2005, these state troopers earned nearly 148,000 of compensatory leave and 25,000 hours of overtime leave. Many times, state troopers are required to take this leave, and when doing so, other officers must work overtime to cover for the state troopers on leave, thus earning more compensatory or overtime leave.)
