Explanation
(This amendment provides $24 million in the second year from the general fund to the Department of Fire Programs as a match for the nongeneral fund revenue the department receives from assessments on Virginia property insurers issued by the State Corporation Commission. The insurance assessments are used by the agency to fund training programs for fire safety personnel and to make grants to localities for firefighting equipment, facilities, and staff. Any funding deposited to the Fire Programs Fund remains in the fund and does not revert to the general fund. The amendment directs the general fund amounts to local aid.)
