"2.  The Department of Social Services, in collaboration with Prevent Child Abuse Virginia, shall develop a plan for increasing the capacity of the Healthy Families Virginia program to serve more families and report on which communities are prepared to grow to scale.  In preparing the report, the Department shall review the findings of the Hampton Healthy Families Partnership Benchmark Study and make recommendations as to ways other communities can further reduce child abuse and neglect, and improve the lives of children and families served by Healthy Families.  The department shall also examine and report on the potential costs associated with implementing this plan.  The department shall report its findings no later than October 1, 2007 to the Governor, the Secretary of Health and Human Resources, and the Chairmen of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees."


Explanation
(This amendment instructs the Department of Social Services to work with the Healthy Families Virginia organization to assist in their efforts to assist at-risk children and families to prevent child abuse and neglect.)
