Explanation
(This amendment eliminates language and funding in the first year for the grants to providers for the acquisition of electronic health records. Funding of $750,000 in the first year and $800,000 in the second year from the general fund was approved by the 2006 General Assembly for the development of electronic health records and is contained in the 2006-08 budget. Issues related to a multi-source procurement to ensure interoperability and consistency with federal standards for the electronic exchange of health information have slowed the implementation of electronic health records. This action defers additional funding for grants for electronic health records until these issues are resolved and pending recommendations on these issues by the Governor's Health Care Reform Commission.)
