Explanation
(This amendment transfers funding for Mental Retardation (MR) waiver slots to Item 302 in the Department of Medical Assistance Services which contains the funding for the Mental Retardation (MR) waiver program. However, language is retained in the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services which specifies the use of the new MR waiver funds to provide 149 new slots for individuals currently residing at Southeastern Virginia Training Center or Central Virginia Training Center who are ready for discharge and have chosen to be served in the community and to individuals living in the community who are at risk of institutional placement. In addition, the amendment modifies language to reflect the addition of 65 MR waiver slots for individuals living in the community and at risk of placement in a mental retardation training center. In total, 214 new MR Waiver slots will be added over the biennium to address the community waiting list. These slots would be in addition to the 110 new MR waiver slots to eliminate the urgent care waiting list for children under age six. Companion amendments transfer the funding to Item 302 in the Department of Medical Assistance Services and provide start-up funding for the establishment of community residential services to support the additional 65 MR Waiver program slots.)
