Explanation
(This amendment transfers $6.2 million in the first year and $11.5 million in the second year from the general fund and a like amount each year in nongeneral funds from the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services to the Department of Medical Assistance Services for 298 new Mental Retardation Waiver slots over the biennium, which was contained in the introduced budget. In addition, $1.3 million in the first year and $2.0 million in the second year is added for 65 additional MR waiver slots for a total of 363 new MR waiver slots over the biennium. Language contained in Item 312, paragraph Z, designates that a portion of the funding will be used for 149 new slots over the biennium to serve individuals currently residing at Southeastern Virginia Training Center or Central Virginia Training Center who are ready for discharge and have chosen to be served in the community. Language contained in Item 312, paragraph AA, earmarks a portion of the funding for total of 214 new slots over the biennium to serve individuals residing in the community who are at risk of placement in a mental retardation training center.)
