Acquire Land Along Route 31The Virginia Department of Transportation shall conduct a review of the long term transportation and security needs of the Route 31 corridor and acquire such additional property and take such other steps as may be necessary to preserve the long-term transportation utility and security needs of this corridor. It is the intent of the General Assembly that the Governor may authorize up to $2,500,000 for this purpose from general fund revenues collected in fiscal year 2006 above the official estimate in this act, after meeting other statutory requirements. Any remaining funds not required for this purpose shall revert to the general fund."
Explanation(This amendment provides a conditional appropriation to VDOT to acquire land on the west side of Route 31 for future transportation purposes. A companion amendment to Item 448 directs VDOT to convey land to the Jamestown Yorktown Foundation.)
