Explanation
(This amendment provides $50,000 the first year from the general fund to the Oatlands, Inc., which is located in Leesburg. Within the next 24 months (in 2007), the State of Virginia will celebrate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown while simultaneously the County of Loudoun will celebrate its 250th anniversary. The funds will be used to complete numerous capital improvement projects in advance of these milestone celebrations. Specifically, Oatlands plans to continue its stabilization of the three-storied, brick bank barn, circa 1810, and to restore its wooden Victorian Fence which surrounds part of the garden. Also, Oatlands requests support for its ongoing educational programs, specifically to help pay for new conservation material storage equipment, material object(s) restoration and to facilitate ongoing archaeological and architectural research on Oatlands.)
