"Included in the amounts in this paragraph is $100,000 each year for maintenance of the Danville Welcome Center.   This appropriation shall be subject to the following conditions:  conveyance by the City of Danville to the Commonwealth of sufficient real estate to encompass the Danville Center State 29 Welcome Center near the intersection of the Route 29 and Route 58 bypasses, three miles from the North Carolina border, together with ingress and egress, by deed in a form satisfactory to the Attorney General; and execution of a Memorandum of Agreement between the Virginia Tourism Corporation and the City of Danville whereby the Virginia Tourism Corporation contracts with vendors to offset expenses in the Center's operation and to provide maintenance and security at the Center."
Page 99, strike line 1 through line 4.

(This amendment provides $100,000 each year to cover the operating costs of the Danville Welcome Center along Route 29. The existing welcome center building is owned by the Commonwealth but sits on property owned by the City of Danville. This language would require the City of Danville to convey the property to the Commonwealth prior to receipt of State funding. There is no State welcome center within 80 miles of Danville. House Bill 5002 as introduced had proposed the one-time use of general funds for this purpose and this language is eliminated. If the property is conveyed to the Commonwealth it will be managed as part of the existing system of State Welcome Centers. Funding will be provided from vending revenues collected at the Welcome Centers which VDOT collects and dedicates to the operation of the Welcome Centers.)
