Page 45, following line 14, insert:
"I. Included in this item is $2,396,222 from the general fund for the first year and $2,396,222 from the general fund for the second year to allow for the increased prosecutions of violations of section 18.2 of the Code of Virginia, or similar local ordinance.  Upon annual written certification by the Attorney for the Commonwealth that he will prosecute violations of section 18.2 of the Code of Virginia, or similar local ordinance, the Compensation Board shall increase the base salary budget for that office by the same amount that it was decreased in FY 2002.  Any funds not expended for this purpose shall be budgeted by the Compensation Board to provide office equipment in Commonwealth's Attorneys' offices that have filed the above certification.".


Explanation
(This amendment restores the FY 2002 budget reductions of $2.4 million GF for those Commonwealth's Attorneys offices that certify the prosecution of driving under the influence.)
