"BBB. 1.  The Department of Medical Assistance Services shall not establish, under the Medicaid Preferred Drug List program, prior authorization requirements or any other restrictions imposed by the Department for emergency or rescue medications used for the treatment of life-threatening respiratory conditions due to acute bronchospasm.  
2.  In developing a disease state management program, the Department shall include initiatives which positively impact asthma-related health care costs."


Explanation
(This amendment adds language requiring the Department of Medical Assistance Services to "carve-out" medications used for the treatment of life-threatening respiratory conditions due to acute bronchospasm from the PDL program. Also, it requires the Department to include asthma in its disease management initiative.)
