"Out of the amounts for Financial Assistance for Cultural and Artistic Affairs, $225,000 the first year and $225,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to the Virginia Recreational Facilities Authority for Virginia's Explore Park."

Explanation
(This amendment provides a general fund grant of $225,000 each year to the Virginia Recreational Facilities Authority to support the Explore Park's ongoing operations and to assist the facility with needed infrastructure repairs. Of the total general fund dollars provided, $100,000 each year would be used to continue the employment of interpreters, educators, and administrators and permit hands-on experiences for guests. The remaining $125,000 would be used each year for capital infrastructure needs such as repair and paving of parking lots and roadways, maintenance of internal pathways, extension of water, electric, and phone service to various exhibit areas, and the installation of restrooms at exhibit areas. The Virginia Recreational Facilities Authority was created by General Assembly action in 1986 to provide a high quality recreational, historic education, tourism and economic development attraction while conserving the scenic and natural areas of the Roanoke River.)
