Page 358, after line 4, insert:
"B. In addition to the amounts provided to the City of Chesapeake for maintenance of city roads under the provisions of  § 33.1-41.1, Code of Virginia, as included in Item 492, there shall be provided additional payments of $760,000 the first year and $760,000 the second year to reflect the additional costs incurred by the City of Chesapeake due to its responsibilities for the Gilmerton, Steele and Centerville drawbridges."

Explanation
(This amendment directs VDOT to allocate from its maintenance funding, $760,000 each year in addition to the city street maintenance payments provided to Chesapeake. Such funding is intended to reflect the high costs associated with the maintenance, by the City of Chesapeake, of three drawbridges within the locality. The formula used to distribute maintenance funding to localities does not provide differential payment to reflect the significant additional costs associated with operating and maintaining drawbridges.)
