Explanation
(This amendment provides funding for the Achievable Dream Academy and its programs, which include the Urban Learning and Leadership Institute. Achievable Dream is the state's most successful model for a public-private partnership in public education for at-risk children. One hundred percent of the students qualify for free or reduced lunches. The teaching methods and practices developed at the Academy are being used in school systems around the Commonwealth, and are transferable to any school system that needs to address at-risk students in the public school system. Demonstrated results include closing the 'achievement gap' between minorities and non-minorities for the Standards of Learning, and meeting full accreditation standards for SOLs.)
