Language Page 428, after line 35, insert:Pursuant to the provisions of House Bill 1531, the Office of the Secretary of Transportation shall be eliminated and the functions and powers of the Office of the Secretary of Transportation transferred to the Secretary of Public Safety. The maximum employment level of the consolidated Secretariat is limited to seven positions effective July 1, 2004. The Director, Department of Planning and Budget, shall include implementation of the actions set forth in this item and in Item 502.10 in the Budget Bill submitted to the 2004 Session of the General Assembly."
Explanation(This amendment transfers the responsibilities of the Secretary of Transportation to the Secretary of Public Safety as of July 1, 2004. The number of positions in the consolidated Secretariat will not exceed the number currently appropriated to the Secretary of Public Safety and will thereby accrue savings of $481,808 in fiscal year 2004.)
