"4.1.  Pursuant to House Bill 2433, an additional appropriation of $681,999,136 shall be provided to local school divisions for public education.  One-half of this appropriation shall be used in Item 147 of this act to raise teacher salaries to the national average.  The additional amount of $340,999,568 the second year from one-half cent increase in the state sales and use tax shall be distributed to the localities to use for public education purposes.  The Department of Education shall distribute the funding as follows:

Explanation
(This amendment would provide an additional payment based on a one-cent increase in the sales tax pursuant to House Bill 2433. This amendment distributes one-half cent of the increase directly to local school divisions for public education purposes. A companion amendment in Item 147 provides funding to bring teacher salaries to the national average using the other one-half cent generated by the bill. The revenue increase is located in Item 0.)
