"C.  Pursuant to the provisions of House Bill 1958, 2003 Session of the General Assembly, the Secretary of the Commonwealth's position is hereby abolished, effective July 1, 2003.  The powers and duties heretofore exercised by the Secretary shall hereafter be vested in the Office of the Secretary of Administration.  The maximum employment level of the consolidated Secretariat shall be 31 positions effective July 1, 2003.  The Secretary of the newly consolidated Secretariat shall be renamed the Secretary of the Commonwealth.  The Director, Department of Planning and Budget, shall include implementation of the actions set forth in this item in Budget Bill submitted to the 2004 Session of the General Assembly.  All references to the Secretary of Administration shall be amended to refer to the Secretary of the Commonwealth."


Explanation
(This amendment reflects the consolidation of the offices of the Secretary of the Commonwealth and the Secretary of Administration pursuant to House Bill 1958. This consolidation results in a net savings to the general fund of $138,952 in fiscal year 2004.)
