Explanation
(This amendment provides $40.0 million of general fund support each year to preserve Virginia's agricultural lands, forests, natural areas, and historic sites through conservation easements and other mechanisms. Budget language requires that 25 percent of the appropriation be transferred to the Open Space Preservation Trust Fund. Language also requires that at least another $10.0 million be reserved for an easement program to secure open space. Such easements would be held, in whole or in part, by public bodies.)
