Explanation
(This amendment provides additional funds to the University of Virginia Medical Center for unreimbursed indigent care through the Medicaid program. The introduced budget increases Medicaid payments to the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals Authority to fully fund the cost of unreimbursed indigent care in the first year. No additional funding was provided for the University of Virginia Medical Center. This is a recommendation of the Joint Commission on Health Care.)
