"Out of this appropriation, $7,900,000 the first year from the general fund and $8,500,000 from the federal trust fund, and $8,000,000 the second year from the general fund and $8,601,000 from the federal trust fund shall be provided to extend dental benefits to Medicaid eligible adults.  The Department shall amend the State Plan for Medical Assistance to provide dental benefits to Medicaid eligible adults.”
Accompanying Budget   “Out of this appropriation, $7,900,000 from the general fund and $8,500,000 from the federal trust fund in the first year, and $8,000,000 from the general fund and $8,601,000 from the federal trust fund in the second year is provided to extend dental benefits to Medicaid eligible adults.  The Department shall amend the State Plan for Medical Assistance to provide dental benefits to Medicaid eligible adults.”


Explanation
(This amendment provides funding to provide dental benefits for Medicaid eligible adults. Language is also added directing the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) to amend the State Plan for Medical Assistance to add these benefits. Currently, dental benefits are provided only to children under age 21. This is a recommendation of the Joint Commission on Health Care.)
