Explanation
(This amendment adds funding for the Statewide Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) to bring each of the AHEC's state funding to $150,000 per year, except Eastern Virginia AHEC which receives $200,000. The added funds would be distributed as follows: $50,000 to the Southwest Virginia AHEC; $50,000 to the Greater Richmond AHEC; $50,000 to the South Central AHEC; $50,000 to the Rappahannock AHEC; and $150,000 to the Northern Virginia AHEC. Language is also added to require the Statewide AHEC Program to submit a report that documents the actions taken to secure non-state funding and a cash match of at least 50 percent of the funds provided by the Commonwealth. This is a recommendation of the Joint Commission on Health Care.)
