"E. The University of Virginia Medical Center shall submit a restructuring plan to the Chairmen of the Senate Finance Committee, the House Appropriations Committee, and the Joint Commission on Health Care no later than November 1, 2000, outlining how it is allocating and spending the additional Medicaid funding provided in Item 319.G. to fund the cost of unreimbursed indigent care at the institution.  Such plan shall include, but not be limited to: (i) a description of how the funds are being allocated between the hospital and the faculty practice plan; (ii) a description of how the funds are being used to address the problem of unreimbursed indigent care; (iii) a description of actions underway at the institution to achieve continued administrative efficiencies; and (iv) a detailed plan for improving the management of the care provided to the indigent population served at the institution."


Explanation
(This amendment directs the University of Virginia Medical Center to submit a restructuring plan relating to the cost of unreimbursed indigent care. This amendment is applicable only if additional funds for unreimbursed indigent care are provided in Item 319.G. This is a recommendation of the Joint Commission on Health Care.)
