Explanation
(This amendment expands the At-Risk Four-Year-Old Preschool program pursuant to the provisions in SB 170. SB 170 provides for changes to the program to: 1) serve 80 percent of the children not served in a federal program; 2) allow the student to teacher ratio in the programs to increase from the current guideline requirement of 8:1 to 10:1, with a maximum class size of 20; 3) allow three- and five-year-olds to participate in the programs; 4) raise the poverty threshold from 100 percent of the federal poverty level to 200 percent.)
