Explanation
(This amendment provides $380,000 the first year from the general fund for the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). This amendment provides funds to purchase and install software required to expand the use of the AFIS system from criminal fingerprint checks to other requests for fingerprint checks from public and private schools, community services boards, home health organizations, and other agencies. Currently, fingerprint checks for these agencies are processed manually, and as a result there are lengthy delays in providing the service.)
