"X.  The State Board for Medical Assistance Services shall develop amendments to the State Plan for Medical Assistance, and seek the Health Care Financing Administration's approval to provide that. The State Plan for Medical Assistance shall be amended to provide coverage of substance abuse treatment services for adults and children and shall include emergency services, evaluation and assessment, outpatient services (including intensive outpatient services), targeted case management, and day treatment."


Explanation
(This amendment provides funding to expand Medicaid coverage to include reimbursement for a comprehensive array of substance abuse treatment services. This is a recommendation of the Joint Subcommittee Studying the Future Delivery of Publicly Funded Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services.)
