Explanation
(This amendment provides increased funding needed to enroll an additional 27,258 children in the Children’s Medical Security Insurance Plan (CMSIP). The additional number of children represents the difference between the 31,500 funded in the introduced budget and 58,758 children estimated to be enrolled by July 1, 2001. The original enrollment estimates developed in 1998 assumed full enrollment of 63,200 within three years of implementation, which would be October 2001. This is a recommendation of the Joint Commission on Health Care.)
