“Out of this appropriation, $120,000 and two full-time equivalent positions in both years shall be provided from the general fund, to be used to visit selected hospitals, clinics, independent pathology laboratories, and physician offices in order to collect cancer case data.  The Virginia Department of Health shall use this appropriation to implement improved means, based on the use of dedicated field staff, of ensuring compliance with Virginia Cancer Registry statutory reporting requirements.”

Explanation
(This amendment provides funding to implement and support a system for notifying all cancer patients whose records have been reported to the statewide cancer registry, pursuant to HB 603. It is estimated that the cost would be $2.00 per patient and would affect 29,000 cancer patients annually.)
