Included in this Item is $4,200,000 the first year and $4,200,000 the second year from the general fund, as provided by the Transportation Trust Fund state highway allocation formula.
1. Out of the above amount is designated $1,500,000 the first year and $852,000 the second year from the general fund, as provided by the Transportation Trust Fund state highway allocation formula, for matching funds required by the Water Resources Development Act of 1986 (Public Law 99-662), as amended, for a study of the eastward expansion of the federally owned Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area. The study is the result of a resolution passed on September 24, 1997, by the U.S. House of Representatives.
2. Out of the above amount is designated $500,000 the first year and $200,000 the second year from the general fund, as provided by the Transportation Trust Fund state highway allocation formula, to begin deepening of the Norfolk Harbor to a depth of 50 feet. This is the state's first share of the cost of this phase of the project, which is expected to be complete in FY 2004.
