"C.  The Department shall reduce food inventory on hand to an average 30-day supply beginning July 1, 2000, and an average 14-day supply beginning July 1, 2001."

Explanation
(This amendment requires the Department to reduce on-hand food inventory. Current on-hand food inventory is approximately 60 days' supply. Based on an average daily consumption of $85,000, it is anticipated that the Department will save $2,500,000 the first year and $1,000,000 the second year as the current inventory levels are reduced, thereby requiring a reduction in purchasing.)
