Page 250, after line 8, insert:
"X. The Department of Medical Assistance Services shall report on the status of (i) its actions to facilitate and enroll low-income Medicare beneficiaries as Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries (QMBs) using data available from federal sources, (ii) allowable federal agreements to extend the enrollment period to increase the number of persons enrolled in these programs, and (iii) simplifying administrative forms and processes for QMB enrollment.  The Department shall report to the Chairmen of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees and the Joint Commission on Health Care by September 15, 2000."
Budget  “The Department shall establish an agreement with the U.S. Health Care Financing Administration to extend the current three-month enrollment period for enrolling in Medicare Part A coverage through the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) program.  The Department shall report to the Chairmen of the Senate Finance Committee, the House Appropriations Committee, and the Joint Commission on Health Care by September 15, 2000 on the status of its actions to establish such an agreement.”
