Explanation
(This amendment would increase, by at least 100 students each year, the number of Virginia students receiving Teaching Scholarship Loans, consistent with the intent behind House Bill 1404, as passed by the House. It also allows sophomore students, graduate students, and part-time students to receive scholarship assistance. In addition, the program is expanded to encourage teaching in high poverty areas, and rural or urban areas with teacher shortages, as well as in critical discipline areas.)
