Explanation
(This amendment increases the operating budget appropriations of the public institutions of higher education and the State Council of Higher Education by $77.5 million in Fiscal Year 2000 for the following purposes: preserve medical education; serve more students; improve undergraduate instruction through lower class sizes; enhance teaching and learning through technology for students; improve student services and administration through technology; maintain quality of instructional activities and facilities; maintain instructional quality; increase graduates in engineering, computer science and other technology fields; create research and development opportunities for key industries; deliver services for business and industry; provide workforce training; and, comply with government mandates in such areas as health and safety.)
