Page 330, after line 16, insert:  "B.  The Department shall report to the Chairmen of the Senate Finance and House Appropriations Committees by November 4, 1999, on the feasibility of establishing a Virginia Chesapeake Bay Educational and Conference Center.  The report shall include, but not be limited to, potential program offerings, the number and extent of participation by public agencies and conservation organizations, the feasibility to use existing facilities in Mathews County, the extent of involvement by private sector organizations, the relationship with other Chesapeake Bay initiatives, the extent of local support, and the appropriate organization to manage and operate the facility.  Of the amounts in this Item shall be provided $50,000 the second year from the general fund for the conduct of this study.".


Explanation
(This amendment directs the Department of Conservation and Recreation to study the feasibility of establishing a Virginia Chesapeake Bay Educational and Conference Center. In addition, $50,000 from the general fund is provided to pay for the study.)
