Explanation
(This amendment provides funding to develop a transitional housing program at Catawba Hospital for seriously mentally ill adults. The program will be used to facilitate the transition of persons from the facility back into the community through a collaborative treatment team made up of staff from the Blue Ridge Community Services Board and the Hospital. An already-existing building on the grounds of Catawba Hospital will be used as the transitional housing unit. The program is estimated to serve 30 individuals per year who have a persistent and severe mental illness that has resulted in frequent re-hospitalizations.)
