"The appropriations for this item include $1,702,148 and 14 positions in the second year from the general fund and $265,405 in the second year from nongeneral funds to open a unit for adolescents served under the Comprehensive Services Act.  Potential admissions to the unit must be referred by local Community Planning and Management Teams, are subject to preauthorization through the Department of Medical Assistance Services' preauthorization contract, and must meet the medical necessity criteria developed by the Department of Medical Assistance Services for psychiatric inpatient and/or residential treatment care.  Localities admitting children to the unit must pay the local share of the cost of the bed after federal funding for Medicaid is subtracted."
