"M.  Out of this appropriation, $65,000 the first year and $165,000 the second year from the general fund is designated for summer research internships for students from first generation, low income, or underrepresented groups in the disciplines of the colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Forestry and Wildlife Resources, Human Resources and Education, and Veterinary Medicine, Arts and Sciences, Architecture and Urban Studies.  In addition, $50,000 the second year from the general fund is provided for overhead and administration of the program. Administration of the program resides in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Students at Virginia State University may also participate in this program, under guidelines set forth by the College of Agriculture and Life Science. The scholarship component of this program is found in Item 184 of this act."


Explanation
(This amendment expands a program which provides an undergraduate and graduate summer research internship program focused on the recruitment and retention of highly qualified underrepresented students in the Colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences and related sciences programs at Virginia Tech. Funding of $65,000 each year is currently provided for the program in the budget of Virginia Tech.)
