Explanation
(This amendment provides an additional $210,000 from the general fund in the first year and four positions to the University of Virginia Center for Governmental Studies. The amendment brings the first year appropriation to the level proposed for the second year. Current funding is $75,000 each year. The amendment also expands the purpose of the center from its initial purpose of preserving the oral history of public officials to educating high school students in the democratic process and increasing public awareness of the electoral system.)
